CROSSROADS
FAREWELL…OR UNTIL?
Now at the crossroads once again…
The “Lion Heart” shall don his armor, take up his sword and shield, harness his majestic steed and ride into the sunset in search of his “Holy Grail” but wait; he is haunted by a memory at first faint then extremely lucid…
A beautiful sunny day on a hillside covered with olive trees. The breeze carries the strong scent of olive blossoms through the air as a young beautiful maiden draws water from a well.
In the distance a soldier approaches. As the maiden watches his image becomes clearer. He is older but his stature is strong, his stride powerful. His muscles glisten in the sunlight and his skin is bronze. Weary but confident he approaches the maiden and their eyes meet, she can see in his gaze a lust for life which she returns invitingly from her beautiful blue eyes shaded by strands of golden hair lightly floating in the breeze.
The soldier drinks in her beauty, her scent fills his nostrils and he can feel the strength, once again, surge through his body as he looks her up and down. Through the shear gown he can see her full breast heaving as she breathes in the fragrant scented air, her skin fair and flawless.
With their eyes fixed upon each other, she fills a chalice with cool water, lifts it to his parched lips. He slowly drinks the elixir of life as their eyes are locked, he can see her warm and compassionate soul… Wishing to repay the maiden he slowly draws near and lightly touches his lips to hers. To his surprise she responds with great passion and without thought they are locked in warm embrace. He can feel her desire as she powerfully thrust herself into his loins. He quickly responds and she can feel his desire. In moments they are one, his desire filling her with ecstatic sensations of joy. They feel the earth tremble beneath them but give no thought as they feel their lovemaking is the cause.
As the two lovers lay in each others arms complete as one, they are oblivious to anything but themselves, the skies darken…
It soon becomes hard to breathe and the lovers mistake their shortness of breath as a need to be one, the urgency compels them to greater passion, their lungs fill with ash soon their mortality fades, their bodies locked in a matrix of ash.
With his last breath and with the ferocity of his lion heart he roars two last words, “Carpe Diem – Seize the day” the words pierce her heart tattooed for all eternity. Their souls ascend to the heavens an eternal love that will never fade and can be seen by all mortal as the sun bright in the midday sky…
The Lion Heart can feel the warmth of the lovers fill his soul, knowing he had once been a soldier on a sunny hillside and felt his heart beat with another as one. So as sadness turns to brilliant expectations and as the words “Carpe Diem” echo from his heart throughout his entire being, he knows that in many lives to come he will seek her out. As the sands of time shift there is one constant… He may be separated from his love for only moments of time nevertheless, their hearts shall always, for ever after, beat as one…
Our time was brief, fraught with illness and sad endings, not the best conditions for love to flourish, and so as our journeys take us in different directions, for now, and you go through this life and many lives to come let the warmth of the midday sun fill your soul with joy and happiness… look to the distant horizon for the approach of the Lion Heart and let destiny passionately reunite your love and complete the longing of your beating heart. I shall always be with you, my one and only true love…
